Artificial Intelligence trends to watch out for in 2019

Today no one can ignore the fact that AI technologies are developing immensely. New innovative sensors are being created; robots are applied into more and more fields. Let’s consider some of the directions for AI development in the year 2019:

1. 5G Mobile Network

5G (from “5th Generation”) is the latest generation of cellular mobile communications. 5G performance targets high data rate, reduced latency, energy saving, cost reduction, higher system capacity, and massive device connectivity. The first phase of 5G specifications will be completed this month to accommodate the early commercial deployment.

To support a broad set of use cases, the new standard has identified three primary requirements: massive M2M communications (for IoT applications), ultra-low latency (enabling life-saving car-to-car connectivity), and gigabit speeds (high bandwidth mobile broadband). No single wireless technology will be able to meet these characteristics, so 5G will be defined by a heterogeneous network that integrates 5G, 4G, Wi-Fi, and other wireless technologies.

Today, technology is being tested and new standards are developed by Intel, Nokia and Huawei. Meantime, Samsung invests 22 billion dollars into AI and 5g. Technology would allow increasing Internet connection speed and energy saving for the devices.

2. Chatbots

Chatbot application field has become much broader in 2019. Smart technology ensures that a chatbot can do more and more and is becoming better at customers’ questions and intentions recognizing.

In recent years chatbots have proved to be capable of handling first customer contact or even handling complete cases. According to Gartner, the service domain will continue to dominate in the coming years.

Spiceworks research claims that up to 40% of large scale companies will have integrated chatbots into their internal processes by the end of 2019.

3. Cloud Services

Businesses and consumers are increasingly reliant on cloud based storage solutions instead of in-house and on-premise local storage hardware.
Your files are stored in the cloud, which is a simplified view of what is essentially someone else’s infrastructure (data center, server, hard drive, connectivity etc).

This year cloud services for data storage will continue to evolve. As using only private, public and hybrid cloud services is not that reasonable and profitable companies are developing new solutions for combined services.

4. Capsule Neural Networks

A Capsule Neural Network (CapsNet) is a machine learning system that is a type of artificial neural network (ANN) and can be used to better model hierarchical relationships. The approach is an attempt to more closely mimic biological neural organization.

Published in 2017 a promising architecture of capsule networks will improve images recognition and reduce a number of mistakes during the recognition process. Capsules are continuing to develop and someday may replace traditional networks.

5. Machine Learning

Machine learning enabled solutions are being significantly adopted by organizations worldwide to enhance customer experience, Return on Investment (ROI), and to gain a competitive edge in business operations. Today with the help of ML neural networks can be taught to predict the possibility of patients’ death and military equipment failures.

Moreover, in the coming years, applications of machine learning in various industry verticals are expected to rise exponentially.

To wrap it up, we should say that from business applications to IT support, AI is going to impact the industry significantly. Therefore we predict the development of AI technologies in different domains in 2019.

Would be glad to know your thoughts about AI development in the future. So, feel free to share your predictions in the comments!
